Medication Certification
At Baby Town Daycare, we understand that every child’s health and well-being are our top priorities. We know that some families trust us with children who require medication or specific treatments during the day, and we take this responsibility with the utmost professionalism, care, and respect.
Our Medication Certification service represents a firm commitment to safety, transparency, and compliance with state regulations. We have certified and authorized staff to administer medication to children, following the guidelines of the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) and all applicable health regulations.
Our goal is to offer families peace of mind and confidence, ensuring that children receive their medication properly, on time, and under professional supervision — without interrupting their educational routine or emotional well-being.
How We Ensure Safe Medication Administration
The certified medication administration service at Baby Town Daycare is carried out through a carefully structured and controlled process designed to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance at every step. Here’s how we do it:
Staff Training and Certification
All personnel responsible for this service have completed the state’s Medication Administration Training program, which includes instruction in basic pharmacology, dosage, storage, hygiene, record keeping, and emergency response. This certification is renewed periodically to ensure our caregivers are always updated and authorized.
Medical Authorization and Family Documentation
Before administering any medication, we require an official medical authorization issued by the child’s pediatrician, along with written parental or guardian consent. These documents specify the dosage, frequency, route of administration, and treatment duration, ensuring clear communication between the family, healthcare provider, and our team.
Safe Medication Reception and Storage
Upon receiving the medication, we verify the original label, the child’s name, the indicated dosage, and expiration date. All medications are stored in a secure, designated area exclusively for this purpose, in compliance with temperature, hygiene, and access control standards.
Administration and Daily Record Keeping
Our certified staff administers the medication exactly as prescribed and at the scheduled times. Each administered dose is carefully recorded in a daily log that includes the time, dosage, observations, and signature of the responsible caregiver. This record is available to parents at any time.
Monitoring and Communication with the Family
After administration, we observe the child to ensure no adverse effects occur. In the event of any reaction or concern, we immediately contact the parents and the child’s doctor if necessary. We also maintain constant communication with families to ensure treatment continuity and update any medical changes.
Emergency Protocol Compliance
In the event of unforeseen medical situations, our staff is trained to act quickly and effectively, following first aid and medical notification procedures established by state authorities.
